
Gertrude "Trudi" A. Shanahan died at her home in Monroe on November 6, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 14, 1931 to the late Fritz and Anna Helbig in Flushing, New York.
Trudi was a member of the Friends of the Edith Wheeler Library and donated much of her time to fundraising efforts. She enjoyed primitive rug hooking as well as gardening and reading.
She is survived by one son Eric Shanahan and his wife Nancy and four grandchildren, as well as her beloved dog Oboe and her parrot Pirate. She was predeceased by son John and daughter Cathy as well as husband Richard.

Visiting hours will be held at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home located at 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT on Saturday, November 12, 2011 between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
