Obituary: ​Jack Timmons, of Monroe

Jack was very talented at and enjoyed rebuilding motorcycles, restoring cars and trucks, and doing home improvements for family & friends.

MONROE, CT — Jack Timmons, age 78, passed away peacefully at Griffin Hospital with his children by his side on Friday, Jan. 11.

Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Francis and Margaret Morris Timmons. He attended Bullard Havens Technical School, and was a builder by trade. Most recently, Jack retired from BIC Corporation in Milford, and also served in the US Army.

Earlier in life Jack raced motorcycles at the Connecticut Dragway, and won numerous trophies. He was an avid NASCAR and New York Yankee fan, and was a season ticket holder for many years. He was a member of the Moose International Club, where he enjoyed Saturday lunches with the gang.

Jack was very talented at and enjoyed rebuilding motorcycles, restoring cars and trucks, and doing home improvements for his family and friends. He enjoyed participating in car shows with his restored 1972 Chevy Pickup truck, that won several awards that he was very proud of.

He is survived by his loving and devoted family, Sherry Swiatek and her husband, Steve, of Charlotte NC; Lori Coppa and her husband, Stephen, of Seymour; and John Timmons and his wife Nilza, of West Haven; two sisters, Virginia Keane of Oxford; Meredith Timmons Cowell of Bethany; six grandchildren, Timothy and Michael Swiatek, PFC Ashley Timmons, Cameron Coppa, Amanda and Andre Nieves, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Muriel Novak, and brother Francis D. Timmons.

Calling hours will be at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home in Monroe on Friday, Jan. 18 from 3-7 p.m. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Stratford on Saturday, Jan.19 at 10:30 a.m.
