Obituary: Maria Elena Haight, 56, of Monroe

Elena worked in the health care industry at St. Vincent s Medical Center and later at Advanced Radiology in Trumbull

MONROE, CT — Maria Elena Haight, 56 of Monroe, also known by her dearest loved ones by 'Lena' or Elena, passed away Jan 24, 2019 in Bridgeport, with her family at her side.

Born in Lisbon, Portugal Oct 20, 1963 Elena was a long time area resident. She attended Central High School and Sacred Heart University.

Elena worked in the health care industry at St. Vincents Medical Center and later at Advanced Radiology in Trumbull, for 19 years. Elena was a hard working, loving and caring person. Her favorite hobby, cooking, was a delight and extension of her unconditional love for her family and friends. She will also be remembered for lessons of strength and compassion.

Elena leaves behind her husband, Richard P. Haight, son Richard P. Haight Jr, a daughter Lauren V. Chiappone, (Michael), mother-in-law Mary Farrell Haight, Elena's beloved sisters Tina Sellers (Calton) and Catherine Ming (Elton) a brother Carlos Mendes (Mariam) of Florida. Brother-in-laws Bryan Haight (Lewann), Thomas Haight (Melody), sister-in-law Maureen Silveira (Mario), and many nieces and nephews that were all so special to her. She is predeceased by her parents Ronald and Virginia Mendes, her father inlaw Richard A. Haight, a son Matthew J. Haight and brother-in-law Daniel R. Haight.

A private service and a celebration of her life for family and friends will be held in her honor.
