Obituary: Mary Ellen Purzycki, 92, of Monroe

During World War II, Mary worked as an assembler at Chance-Vought Aircraft.

MONROE, CT —Mary Ellen Purzycki, age 92, of Monroe, formerly of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Chester A. Purzycki, passed away peacefully Monday, December 17, 2018 at the CT Hospice, Branford.

Born in Shelton, the daughter of the late Sven and Anna Peterson, she lived in Fairfield for many years prior to moving to Monroe 30 years ago. During World War II, Mary worked as an assembler at Chance-Vought Aircraft. While living in Fairfield she was a member of the Lake Hills Association. Mary loved to work on jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her family.

Survivors include four beloved children: Gary J. Purzycki of Fairfield, James A. Purzycki and his wife, Monnie, of Southbury, Mark E. Purzycki and his wife, Robin, of Fairfield, and Karen R. Miller and her husband, James of Stratford; a sister-in-law, Arlene Peterson of Shelton; six grandchildren: Jason and Christopher Purzycki, Eric and Megan Purzycki and Kirk and Michaela Miller; three great-grandchildren: Colin, Ryan and James; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Wayne Purzycki; three brothers: James, William and Thomas Peterson and a daughter-in-law, Denise Purzycki.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends may greet the family Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Purzycki may be made to the CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
