Obituary: Michele Ann Cacciola Wisentaner, 50, of Monroe
In 2007, Michele was selected as Teacher of the Year for the Monroe School District.

MONROE, CT — Michele Ann Cacciola Wisentaner, age 50, of Monroe, passed away on December 16 2018 after a courageous four year battle with cancer.
Daughter of the late Joseph and Dolores Cacciola she was born January 6, 1968 in Boston, Massachusetts. She moved to Monroe, Connecticut with her family in 1979. She attended Monroe Elementary School which she would later return to as a teacher. After graduating Masuk High School in 1986 she would attend Stonehill College. While at Stonehill College she met her future husband Douglas J. Wisentaner. She graduated Stonehill College in 1990 cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree with dual certifications in Early Childhood and Elementary Education with a minor in Reading.

During the 1990-1991 school year she was hired by the Monroe Board of Education as a Teacher’s Assistant in the kindergarten class at Stepney Elementary School. The following year she was hired as a kindergarten teacher at Monroe Elementary School (Room 26) where she would teach for the next 27 years. In 2007 she was selected as Teacher of the Year for the Monroe School District. Her battle with cancer forced her to resign from her lifelong passion of teaching in June of 2018.
Her survivors include her dedicated husband Douglas and her two loving sons “Dougie” and Michael; a younger brother, “Joey” and his wife, Julie; her uncle Michael Taddonio and his wife, Erna; her aunt and Godmother “Peenie” Cacciola; her mother-in-law, Marilyn Wisentaner; her brothers-in-law, Jay Wisentaner and his wife, Mary Agnes, and Rick Wisentaner; her nieces and nephews, Alexa, Erik, Conor, Nina and Elizabeth, and many beloved cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 22nd at 10am at Saint Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike. Interment will follow in Monroe Center Cemetery, Monroe. Friends and family may call on Friday, December 21st from 4-8 pm in the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher and Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike.
