Obituary: Miriam Stephanie Zalenski, 77, of Monroe

MONROE, CT -- Miriam Stephanie Zalenski, age 77, of Monroe passed away on Friday July 6, 2018. Miriam was born July 22, 1940 in Queens, New York to Ernest and Norine Meyers.

Miriam was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thadeus Zalenski. She is survived by her loving children, Ted (Therese) Zalenski, Wayne (Lisa) Zalenski, and Daniel Zalenski. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Thadeus Zalenski, Carrisa Zalenski, Tyler Zalenski, Chloe Zalenski, Therese Zalenski and Truly Patterson. Miriam also had several siblings including Carol, Norine, Andy, Barbara and Pam.

Miriam was known for her love of crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed gardening and treasured her time with her grandchildren. Miriam was an active member of the Monroe Congregational Church and worked with the “Project From the Heart” program to help send thousands of care packages to military members stationed overseas. Miriam could talk for hours to anyone and will be remembered for her sense of humor.

A visitation for Miriam will be held Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. A funeral service will take place Monday, July 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Monroe Congregational Church, 34 Church Street, Monroe.
