Obituary: Roberta Jean Blakeman Kaempfer, 91, of Monroe
Roberta was fiercely independent, had a notable sense of humor, a remarkable memory, and loved her family and friends.

MONROE, CT -- Roberta Jean Blakeman Kaempfer, 91, formerly of Monroe, died after a brief illness on June 18, 2018, in Shelton.
She was born in Bridgeport on April 24, 1927, attended Monroe Elementary School, and graduated from Bridgeport’s Bassick High School in 1945. Since 2001 she resided at Wesley Heights-United Methodist Home in Shelton.
She was fiercely independent, had a notable sense of humor, a remarkable memory, loved her family and friends, and was a life-long member of Monroe United Methodist Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, William Arthur Kaempfer, Jr., parents, Vera Medora Hubbell and David Thornton Blakeman, siblings Vivian Millard, Sterling and Robert Blakeman, and their respective spouses.
Survivors include daughters, Pamela Kaempfer (Naugatuck), and Marcia Becker (Seymour); five grandchildren, Tina McSweeney (Waxhaw, NC), Heather Phaneuf (Naugatuck), Matthew Hofmiller, Jr. (Bedford, NY), Brian Becker (Cambridge, MA), and Bianca Becker (Boulder, CO); five great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

A memorial service for family and friends will occur at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 4 at the United Methodist Church of Monroe, 515 Cutlers Farm Road, Monroe. Contributions in Roberta’s memory may be made to United Methodist Church of Monroe or United Methodist Homes-Wesley Heights, 580 Long Hill Avenue, Shelton, CT 06484.
