Parents, Students Speak Out on Social Media Bullying Incident at Monroe Board of Education Meeting
Community members voiced their concerns to the school board regarding the issue after a student was recently suspended for cyber bullying.

MONROE, CT — As officials continue to grapple with the recent social media bullying incident at Masuk High School, parents and students voiced their concerns to the Monroe Board of Education during Tuesday night’s meeting, according to FOX 61.
Students recently launched an online petition at Change.org that calls on the school board and the superintendent of schools to “have a particular student and any other student(s) involved in the social media attack on special need students and African Americans removed from Masuk High School and placed into an alternative setting.”

FOX 61 reports that while the school board previously said the issue would not be an agenda item on Tuesday, BOE Chair Donna Lane gave a brief statement saying that officials are very limited in what they can say regarding the matter but the board will continue to “address this issue thoroughly and in compliance with all legal requirements.”
