Picture Monroe: Double Rainbow Above Village Square Shopping Center
Did you see the double rainbow above Monroe after the storm late Monday afteroon?

MONROE, CT — About the only good thing to come out from a sudden, torrential rainfall is the possibility of a rainbow.
And so, we were doubly blessed by the storm that blew through Monroe late Monday afternoon.
We were blessed a third time when Patch reader Charlene Hron caught a photo of the rare double rainbow that appeared in front of Monroe Falafel and Dairy Queen in the Village Square Shopping Center at 6:35 p.m. and sent it to us.

According to the National Weather Service, double rainbows are formed when part of a light ray, having already passed through one raindrop, gets reflected again, at a different angle. The colors of the secondary rainbow are actually reversed from the primary.
