School Year Ends, Summer Camp Begins
Girls K-12 can travel from Monroe to Camp Katoya in Milford, CT to participate in an environmental and science education program.
Day Camp for Girls K-12 Offers Environmental, Science Education Program
This summer, all girls grades K-12 can take a free bus service from Monroe to Camp Katoya in Milford, CT. There, girls can learn about environmental and science education while also participating in traditional camp activities.
With its vast and diverse wetlands, Camp Katoya is able to provide girls with adventures that are mega fun. Camp Katoya will be inviting a specialist to come and help with its program, “Mega Science.” With Mega Science, girls will be able to experiment with the natural world and participate in environmental education activities. This program is for girls entering grades fourth through sixth. Girls will also be able to participate in traditional activities including daily swim, and girls in grades four or higher can try their hand at archery.

Operated by Girl Scouts of Connecticut, Camp Katoya is proud to be licensed by the State of Connecticut and accredited by the American Camping Association which shows a commitment to offering high quality programs, meeting safety standards, and following the best business practices.
Summer camp helps boost girls’ self-esteem and confidence, thus improving their social skills and establishing a greater sense of independence. During their summer at Camp Katoya, girls can develop leadership qualities, learn outdoor skills, swimming in our pools and more! Younger girls begin by leading songs and playing games. Girls in grades nine through twelve can participate in a number of leadership programs.

At Camp Katoya, each member of the summer camp staff has been carefully screened and chosen for their skills and experience. All staff receives more than 30 hours of training in child development, teambuilding, safety, and risk management.
