Second Budget Rejected by Voters in Monroe

The amended spending plan was once again rejected by voters.

Voters in Monroe rejected the town budget for the second time this month.

According to the Connecticut Post, the revised 2015-16 budget was $118,000 lower than the original $84.3 million spending plan. The new proposed budget would have cut $68,000 from the municipal side and $50,000 from the education side.

First Selectman Steve Vavrek announced on social media that the budget was rejected by 27 votes.
