Shelton Man Accused of Driving Drunk in Monroe

The man reportedly crossed over the center line several times.

A Shelton man was charged with a DUI after a motorist reported a vehicle being operated erratically on Route 111 in Monroe.

According to police, the investigating officer observed a black 2009 Lincoln MKS partially backed into a driveway with the front end blocking a lane of the roadway on July 4 at around 4:43 a.m.

The driver, identified as Bruno Janssens, 47 was racing the engine and then pulled out and began to travel south on Route 111, police said. Janssens allegedly crossed over the center line several times.

When Janssens was stopped, the officer smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, police said. Janssens failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane.

He was given a $500 bond and a court date of July 14.
