Showers Available at Lakewood Trumbull YMCA, Planet Fitness
First Selectman Steve Vavrek announced the YMCA's offer on his listserv today. Planet Fitness informed the media that its showers will be available in a press release.
Most of Monroe is without power and electricity will not be restored to the entire town until a week or longer, according to Connecticut Light & Power estimates. But residents can still maintain their personal hygiene.
First Selectman Steve Vavrek said he contacted the Lakewood Trumbull YMCA, which agreed to allow Monroe residents to use its showers Monday through Friday from 5:15 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
He said Jockey Hollow School and Masuk High School will not be ready to allow people to shower.

The YMCA is not the only option for keeping clean.
Planet Fitness clubs in Connecticut have opened their doors to members and non-members alike so that the public can use its showers and locker rooms for free.
