Sonja Faust Liljengren, of Monroe, Passed Away
Mrs. Liljengren was former President of High Meadows Condominiums in Monroe.

MONROE, CT — Sonja Faust Liljengren ( daughter of the late Fabian and Gunhild Faust) died Friday April 15, 2016 at Masonicare in Newtown. She was born in Manchester, CT, attended school in Bridgeport, graduating from Bassick High School in 1944, and attended RI State College. She was a resident of Fairfield for 50 years before moving to Monroe in 1995.
During the Second World War she worked for the OSS ( Office of Strategic Services, Washington DC. She retired from the Burndy Corp. in Norwalk. Mrs. Liljengren served as District Master of VASA Order of America in 1960. Was a member and Past Matron of Marie Lafayette, #111 OES, former Grand Representative of Wisconsin, and served as Worthy Grand Matron, of CT in 1980. In 1983 was elected Grand Treasurer of OES, a position she held until 1997 at which time she was honored with title of Grand Treasurer Emeritus. She served on the Board of Directors of, OES, CT for 23 years, former President of High Meadows Condominiums in Monroe.
She was a former Board Member of Masonicare in Wallingford, a member of Lady Martha #103 Daughters of the Nile, Pyremus Temple, commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by Commonwealth of Kentucky, and dedicated volunteer at Masonicare in Newtown.
She was predeceased by her husband, Oke S. W. Liljengren and her daughter, Karin Clark. She is survived by son Gary Liljengren and his wife Rosalind of Newtown, three grand-daughters ; Mormor to Dawn and Novian Castillo, of San Diego, CA and Farmor to Evin Liljengren and Brian MacLachlan of Westbrook, and Heather Liljengren and Michael Jerdan, of Brooklyn, NY, and great grandson, Curren and a great granddaughter Marina of San Diego, brother. Bertil and Jean Faust niece Debbie and nephew Glen of Fairfield.
Friends are invited to greet the Family, on Tuesday April 19 at the Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North ave, Bridgeport from 4 to 7 PM. Burial will be private in Oaklawn Cemetery in Fairfield.
