Obituary: Stanley M. Kaplin, 90, of Monroe

Stanley proudly served in the US Army and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict.

MONROE, CT — Stanley M. Kaplin, age 90 of Monroe, passed away on September 28, 2018 at St. Vincent's Medical Center with his family by his side.

Stanley was born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Louis and Rachel Kaplin. Stanley graduated from Bassick HS and the University of Connecticut. He worked as an accountant for ABCD, Inc. He proudly served in the US Army and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was Jr. Vice Commander of the American Legion Sippin-Windspur Post 176 in Monroe. He was an active member of B'nai Torah Synagogue in Trumbull.

Stanley is survived by his devoted wife, Eileen Rom Kaplin, his children, Shari and Lloyd Baron, Jill and Dale Manchester, Karen and Gary Newitts, Judith and Jeffrey Zakim, his beloved grandchildren, Joseph and Catalina Baron, Hayley Baron, Sydney Manchester, Ryan Manchester, Olivia Newitts, Nathan Zakim and Evan Zakim. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Carol A. Dworken as well as nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his sister Bernice Kaplin, his brother and sister-in-law Edward and Elaine Kaplin and his brother-in-law, Harvey Dworken.

Services will take place on Wednesday October 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield with interment at Loyalty Cemetery on Burroughs Road in Fairfield. Friends and family are invited to Congregation B'nai Torah immediately following the service. Minyan will be at 6:30 p.m. Shiva will be observed at the home of Judith and Jeffrey Zakim on Thursday and Saturday with Minyan at 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: Swim Across the Sound or Congregation B'nai Torah.
