Town of Monroe Alerts Residents to Enterovirus

The Town of Monroe posted an important alert on their Facebook page on Monday.

From the Town of Monroe:

I just wanted to update you about an emerging infection that we may start to see in CT. It is called enterovirus EV D68 and children are the most affected in the few outbreaks around the country (Missouri, Chicago, NY state). There are a couple of suspect clusters in CT (we have not been told where yet and they are not yet confirmed).

While symptoms can be mild and flu-like, some cases can be serious and have neurologic symptoms as well. Children with asthma are likely to be more seriously affected.
