Voters Reject 2015-16 Budget in Monroe
A quarter of the town's eligible voters voted.

Monroe voters rejected a nearly $84.3 million budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year on Tuesday, the Connecticut Post reports.
The budget was rejected by just over 200 votes.
Representing an $1.8 million increase over the current year’s budget, the spending plan is 2.3 percent higher and the tax rate would have increased by 11 percent, the paper reports. Officials say the increase would be offset by a decrease in the assessed value of properties.
