Monroe Parents: Want a Calmer, Peaceful Home?

Follow these tips from a local parenting expert.

Reader submitted:

For us, school vacations always started out with a lot of excitement about all the things we would do, all the family we would see, and all the fun we would have together. Ten days in the cold of December is a lot of togetherness. There was always a lot of fighting in our house, and yes, a lot of yelling. I love our family AND really did not know how to work problems through as they came up. Sound familiar?

So as we all make our New Year’s resolutions, how about working on learning new parenting skills that will help you bring the joy back in to parenting!

Positive Discipline parenting tools teach valuable social and life skills without using any form of punishment, rewards, praise, or permissiveness. In our 6-week classes, you will learn how to discipline in a kind and firm way, how to create connection before correction, and how to empower and encourage your children. You will gain practice with experiential exercises that get you into your child’s world to understand their belief behind their behavior, and to motivate change.

Let us help you and your family start the New Year right! Our class schedule is available at www.positivedisciplinewesternct.org.
