Wells Fargo Celebrates Community Bank Store Opening in Monroe
Wells Fargo will present three grants to the Monroe Food Pantry, the Monroe American Youth Soccer Association and the Historical Society.

MONROE, Conn., November 1, 2014 – Wells Fargo is celebrating the grand opening of a community banking retail store at the Monroe, Conn. Stop and Shop Plaza. The new eco-friendly store, located at 470 Monroe Turnpike, features the latest in technology and easy accessibility for customers. It replaces an older store located at 535 Monroe Turnpike in Monroe.
“By relocating our store to the Stop and Shop Plaza, we can offer easier accessibility and are able to better meet the needs of our Monroe customers,” said Wells Fargo Area President Kent McClun.

“This store is in an excellent location that will provide a great experience for those with diverse banking needs. Whether you’re seeking checking or savings accounts, a mortgage or loan, planning for retirement or college, starting a business or whatever the need, we’ll have experts there who can assist.”
“It’s important to us to support the communities we serve,” said store manager Galina Kovacheva. “Besides helping customers with their financial needs, my team and I look forward to getting involved in local causes and volunteering.”

Wells Fargo team members will present grants of $7500 for the Monroe Food Pantry, $2500 for the Monroe American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), and $1,000 for the Monroe Historical Society at the store’s Grand Opening on Saturday, November 1. A mural depicting Monroe’s history, produced in conjunction with the Monroe Historical Society, is also scheduled to be unveiled at the Grand Opening.
In addition to an online banking station and the latest in ATM technology, the new store has an eco-friendly design. It is built to the U.S. Green Building Councils’ Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards, which features energy savings up to 21% over traditional stores and uses approximately 40% less water. Building materials are composed of both post and pre-consumer recycled content. Wells Fargo currently has 73 community banking stores throughout Connecticut and 100 ATMs in addition to its new Monroe location.
Wells Fargo employs over 1,500 Connecticut residents from different business lines, including wholesale; wealth, brokerage and retirement; and consumer lending.In 2013, Wells Fargo contributed over $1.7 million to support Connecticut non-profits and schools through corporate and foundation giving. Nationally, the company remains one of the top corporate givers in the U.S., investing $275.5 million in 18,500 nonprofits.
