From the US National Weather Service New York NY:
Three years ago, on October 29, 2011, a historic snowstorm hit the Tri-State area. The earliest inch or more of snow was measured at Central Park with 2.9 inches. Between a foot and 18 inches of snow fell across the interior of the Lower Hudson Valley, Northeast New Jersey, and southern Connecticut. With trees still having many of the leaves, the heavy wet snow brought down large branches as well as downing power lines.
