Woman Facing DUI Charge After Head-On Monroe Crash

A Newtown woman is facing charges.

A Newtown woman is facing a DUI charge after police say she was involved in a head-on motor vehicle crash in Monroe.

Police received a report of the crash on Route 25 around 11:20 p.m. on July 23.

According to police, investigation revealed that Caitlyn Hydeck, 28 was traveling north in a Toyota Corolla on Route 25 when she swerved over the center line and struck a Nissan Altima driven by Nancy Chapman, 48, of Norwalk.

Hydeck admitted to having a “few beers” before driving, police said.

She failed standardized field sobriety tests was placed under arrest after refusing medical treatment, police said.

Police said that Hydeck did not have an operator’s license. She submitted to a breath test which showed her BAC as being .256.

Chapman was transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Hydeck was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, failure to drive in the proper lane and operating a motor vehicle without a license. She was given a $500 bond and a court date of Aug. 3.
