$237,000 in Surplus Montville Education Money in Limbo
The Town Council has not yet decided what to do with the windfall.

Just under $237,000 in surplus Montville education funding has not yet been designated, after the Town Council recently voted not to place the money in the school system’s capital expenditures account.
The extra money, which was the result of some unexpected teacher retirements last year, will remain in limbo for the time being until officials decide where to put it.
Council Chairman Joseph Jaskiewicz and others are leaning toward putting it in the town’s general fund because Montville has lost some state funding and local tax revenue over the past year, reports the Norwich Bulletin.

“We’ve had some money lost within the town,” Jaskiewicz told the Bulletin. “The winter of last year raised heck with our roads.”
