4 Montville Businesses Fined For Illegal Tobacco Sales: State PD
A total of 14 local businesses were checked. Find out which ones were not in compliance.

MONTVILLE, CT — Four Montville businesses were fined for illegally selling tobacco products after the Montville Resident State Trooper and the Montville Police Department conducted tobacco compliance checks on December 1.
A total of 14 businesses within the Town of Montville were checked by Montville detectives who teamed up with the Southeastern Regional Action Council (SERAC) for the grant-funded compliance check program.
The four businesses that were not in compliance sold tobacco products to persons under the age of 18, according to authorities.

The four businesses found to be non-compliant were:
- Henny Penny, 2210 Route 32
- The Dollar General, 855 Route 32
- The Country Market Place, 1226 Old Colchester Road
- The Chesterfield Liquors store, 1596 Route 85
"Enforcement action was taken and the violators were issued an infraction for Sale of Tobacco to Minors Under 18 (a $200.00 fine)," wrote state police in a release. "The ten other local businesses were found in compliance and did not sell tobacco to persons under 18 years old. Montville Police thanks the Public for continuing to bring suspicious activity to the department’s attention."
