The caller told police the same vehicle had been seen the previous evening with its trunk open, prompting officers to respond and investigate.

Officers were able to enter the home and discovered the homeowner suffering from a medical emergency, police said.

"The observations of this concerned citizen and the investigation by police likely saved this person's life," the department said.

Police did not provide additional information about the nature of the medical emergency or the homeowner's condition.

The department used the incident to remind residents to report suspicious or unusual activity.

"If you see something suspicious we urge you to call and report it," police said. "Your call could save someone's life."
