Board of Ed Honors Students, Parent
The board gives certificates for character as well as scores
On Tuesday, the Board of Education recognized achievements of character, as well as exemplary work.
The board acknowledged Kevin Murtha for being "an excellent role model for other students."
The Leonard J. Tyl student is a compassionate person, Principal M.J. Dix said. His teachers say he makes a difference in the lives of other students. Murtha, she said, is thoughtful, protective, considerate.

Eleanor Page, another Tyl student, also was recognized. In addition to being a participant in chorus, chamber choir and the jazz band at Tyl, Page also was honored for what Dix called “quiet leadership.”
When, during a talent show, one performer became too nervous to get on stage, leaving her partner alone, Page "went right up to the mic and completed the song with the remaining partner."
