As Election Time Approaches

I encourage you to pick up the phone or email the candidates to find out their true thoughts.

With the election “season” quickly approaching, I’m finding it interesting that candidates are already finding it necessary to “throw mud” to make themselves look like a better candidate. It sickens me and is one of the things that motivates me to run for Town Council.

Montville needs people who are willing to do what is best for the Town and not worried about what the “other guy” has done or is doing. It's my belief that a candidate should run on what THEY plan on doing for the Town and not worried about what the "others" are doing. Stop wasting time and effort on smear campaign/blogging, it’s the last thing people want to hear. Residents want to hear what makes YOU a good candidate and why YOU want to run. Negative blogging, really says so much about those doing it. In my eyes, it shows the only way they feel they can win is by making the other guy look bad instead of proving what they want to do or have done.

I wish there was a way around the negative campaigning, but there isn’t. During this campaigning time I encourage you to listen with a careful ear to the candidates, hear what they have to offer, make your decision on what YOU know about the candidate NOT what someone else thinks they know. If you want to know more pick up the phone or send an email to the candidate to find out exactly what their intentions are. If you read a blog that sounds negative toward a candidate and has you curious, contact that candidate and let them clarify the accusations, see why they voted the way they did or said what they said. Don’t be blinded by smear campaign allegations, we will never move forward if you do.

I hope Montville gets it right in November, it’s time to get people in that want what’s best for the Town and not worried about what A, B and C have done but what they plan on doing and can bring to the table.
