McDonald's To Close I-95 Service Plaza Restaurants in Branford and Madison
McDonald's will be closing up two of its restaurants in Branford and Madison, both located inside small service plaza buildings alongside Interstate 95. Dunkin' Donuts and Subway will replace them.

If stopping at Mickey D’s for a quick snack along the highway is part of your routine, you may be in for a surprise.
McDonald’s Restaurants at the Branford Southbound and Madison Northbound Service Plazas will be closing permanently, according to Connecticut Department of Transportation Spokesman Judd Everhart.
The 5,600-square-foot Branford Southbound Plaza is the last service area on Interstate 95 South before the Interstate 91 junction in New Haven while the 6,000-square-foot Madison Northbound Plaza is the last food and fuel service plaza on Interstate 95 North.

These service plazas are the smallest on Interstate 95. They each have a McDonald’s Restaurant and Mobil gas station. The dining rooms feature large floor to ceiling glass windows.
Unlike its larger sister I-95 service plazas, they do not have additional food vendors or a gift shop.

Both Branford Service Plazas will close for renovations in March with a scheduled reopening in January 2013.
The Madison Service Areas are scheduled to close for renovations in March 2013 with a slated reopening in March 2014.
After renovations are completed, travelers can visit the Branford Southbound and Madison Northbound Plazas which will house a Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts, Fast Freddie’s Convenience Store, and a updated Mobil gas station.
Those tenants will gradually open in all of and after renovations are completed by Project Service, LLC.
Folks can continue to get their Big Macs at renovated McDonald’s at the larger Branford Northbound and Madison Southbound Service Plazas.
There are nearby McDonald’s located at 108 West Main Street in Clinton, 617 Boston Post Road in Guilford, 280 Branford Road in North Branford, and 424 West Main Street in Branford.
McDonald’s, a main stay on I-95 in Connecticut since the 1980’s, does not have plans to open additional outlets at the state’s smaller service plazas on Route 15 or I-395.
The DOT confirmed that McDonald's will still welcome travelers at the northbound and southbound I-95 service plazas in Darien, Farfield, and Milford. The Darien service plaza has one of the busiest McDonald's in the country.
