Murphy Students Help the Hungry

Students at the Dr. Charles E. Murphy School participate in 2 events aimed to help the hungry.

Third-grade students at the Dr. Charles E. Murphy recently used what they created in their art class to help people in need.

Students participated in the annual Empty Bowls project. They created clay turtle bowls for a  luncheon where staff and teachers made a donation that allowed them  a bowl and a delcious lunch of soup and salad - all donated by art teacher and event coordinator Tammy Hudson.

The event raised $215, which will be used to help feed some of our Murphy families at Thanksgiving.

Second-grade students are leading the Care and Share Food Drive this fall, also aimed at helping the citizens of Montville. Murphy families are asked to donate nonperishable food items up until Tuesday, Nov.15th.

They are sending the collected items to Montville Social Services. Last year Murphy provided 350 holiday baskets!!! These wonderful event exemplified Murphy's character pillars of citizenship and kindness.
