Norwich, Montville show wave of support for immigrant students: Hurry and join today!

An inspiring, encouraging late surge of support from Montville and Norwich residents for a documentary on local immigrant students is helping make the project a reality. Act today!

Perhaps one of the most touching moments during the Kickstarter drive to fund "A Voice to be Heard," a film about local immigrant students, came when I picked my daughter up after school and she handed me an envelope from eighth-grade teachers at Griswold Middle School.

Inside was a small financial contribution to the project but a big encouragement to me after working on a documentary for more than a year. Gestures like this have been amazing. Admittedly, I'm not crazy about pushing the fundraising side of this venture. I wish I could just get to work! But by pushing myself to make the calls I have been blessed by such great responses.

More than $2,000 has been raised on the site from nearly 50 backers - as of Thursday afternoon - and the project has received nearly 320 likes on Facebook, dozens of them in just 24 hours.

With just seven days remaining, the odds are long that the Kickstarter drive will meet its goal. But never mind about the odds! The best stories come when the odds are overcome. I'm asking for a surge of support in these final days to get us to the goal. I've always wanted this film to get grassroots support so that the project lives beyond just a film and helps promote a movement to inspire others.

Will you join us today? Just two minutes and $5 here will make it happen: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1981010057/a-voice-to-be-heard-coming-of-age-in-america?ref=home_location
