Rachel's Challenge

Town Councilors pledged to be civil.

Earlier this year all members of the Town Council signed the Rachel's Challenge pledge "promising to look for the best in others, dare to dream, choose positive influences, use kind words and actions, and start a chain reaction with friends and family." ().  The picture attached is my personal copy; there was another that all members signed.

All Councilors signed the pledge.  In alphabetical order they/we are: Russ Beetham, Candy Buebendorf, Billy Caron, Ellen Hillman, Donna Jacobson, Dana McFee, and Gary Murphy.

Among the principles outlined in our pledge were two that each of us needs to keep in mind in this last month of campaigning:

  • treat others the way you want to be treated
  • appreciate everyone and mock no one

 

We are representatives of the Town of Montville.  We need to be role models for the and for the in their school inspired the Town Council to accept the challenge.  We have a duty to the residents of Montville to be respectful.

Civil discussion based on factual information (as opposed to unsubstantiated accusations and name-calling) is consistent with the pledge we took.  If we step out of line, please let us know.
