Colchester Man Pleads Guilty To Machinegun Charge: Feds

A Colchester man has pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a machinegun, according to federal prosecutors.

COLCHESTER, CT — A Colchester man pleaded guilty Monday to illegal possession of a machinegun, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. Michael Sheriden, 27, faces a maximum prison term of 10 years and will be sentenced in November.

According to prosecutors, Sheriden delivered a machinegun to someone who had purchased it at a parking lot in Cromwell on Jan. 29.

This crime is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with the assistance of the Penobscot County (Maine) Sheriff’s Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Margaret Donovan.
