DEEP Issues Fishing Report

Conditions for trout, bass and other fish are improving generally across Connecticut

  • Conditions look good for trout in rivers and streams generally across the state, with the rain that fell this week. Fishing was very good last week in the Farmington River, Salmon River, Eightmile River and others.
  • The fishing has been fair to good in lakes and ponds. In eastern Connecticut, Beaver Brook Park Ponds, Broad Brook Mill Pond, Heritt Fly Pond, Hyde Mill Pond, Lantern Hill Pond and Long Pond were scheduled for stocking this week.
  • Smallmouth bass fishing has been variable.
  • Northern pike have been reported from Bantam Lake, Bantam River, Quaddick Reservoir and Mansfield Hollow Reservoir.
  • Walleye are reported in Batterson Park Pond, Lake Saltonstall and Squantz Pond.
  • A 31-inch Atlantic salmon was reported in Crystal Lake.
