Fatal Shed Fire in Montville: State Police

Emergency responders discovered a person dead inside the shed once the fire was extinguished.

MONTVILLE, CT - One person died in a shed fire at 95 Depot Road Tuesday afternoon, state police said in a news release.

The Montville Fire Marshal’s Office, the Montville Fire Department, State Troopers from Troop E-Montville, and State Police Detectives from the Fire and Explosion Investigative Unit (FEIU) are investigating the fatal structure fire.

On Tuesday at 3:40 p.m., firefighters from the Montville Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire located at 95 Depot Road in Montville.

Upon arrival the Montville Fire Department found a small shed structure fully engulfed in flames. The shed was not attached to the residence, but located behind the residence. No damage was reported to the residence, State Police said.

Firefighters were able to knock down the structure fire and extinguish the flames. After the fire was suppressed a search of the shed was conducted by firefighters. The search revealed one victim deceased in the shed, State Police said. No other injuries were reported.

The identity of the deceased is pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.
The investigation is ongoing, State Police said.
