Flooding in New London County; Flash Flood Watch in Effect for Entire County

New London County is under a flood advisory until 5:30 p.m. Thursday and a flash flood watch until Friday, Sept. 11, at 6 a.m.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is reporting flooding on I-95 southbound, between exits 83 and 81. Reader Jeannie Jerolis shared photographs of flooding on Dewey Avenue in Groton.

East Lyme’s Main Street at Pennsylvania Avenue is closed due to flooding, according to East Lyme police.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook was issued for the entire state due to possible flooding. Towns and cities state-wide are expected to receive more than an inch of rain, sorely needed due to an absence of precipitation for the past two weeks.
