Funeral Expenses Fund Created for Norwich Teen's Family

Christopher Smith died after a May 17 Go-Kart accident in Montville. Anyone may donate to the fundraiser.

The local community is rallying around a family who lost their son over the weekend.

Norwich 16-year-old Christopher Smith reportedly lost control of the handmade Go-Kart he was driving on Caroline Road in Montville on Sunday, May 17.

The kart rolled over several times and Smith died as a result of the accident, Officer Jeffrey Bellavance of Troop E said in a press release.

Pamela Lucas Dwight created a GoFundMe fundraiser to help the family with funeral expenses. As of 11:15 a.m. Monday, May 18, the community raised $1,775 out of $3,000.

“C.J., the 16 year old son of my dear friends, was in a serious accident and his family needs money to help with funeral expenses.

He was a good kid, active in Boy Scouts and always willing to lend a hand. His parents are people who would give the shirts off their backs to anyone in need. Now they need help. Please and thank you in advance.”
