Ghost Guns Seized After Suspect Flees Police In Montville: PD

A teen is facing several charges following a joint investigation between Montville and Ledyard police.

MONTVILLE, CT — A teen has been arrested after officers found two Glock-style 9mm ghost guns and ammunition in his possession, according to police.

Police said they took Jacolby Sears, 18, into custody Wednesday around 10:30 p.m.

Police said Sears had been involved in a domestic violence incident earlier Wednesday.

Later in the day, a Montville officer tried to stop Sears, who fled in a vehicle, police said. Following an investigation, which included help from Ledyard police, officers located Sears.

Police said Sears was taken into custody on Route 32 near Town Hall. Neither police nor the suspect were injured during the capture, according to police.

Sears was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, failure to obtain a serial number for a firearm, possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, and illegal possession of a high capacity magazine.

He is also accused of third-degree assault, second-degree unlawful restraint, breach of peace, traveling unreasonably fast, speeding, reckless driving, disobeying the signal of an officer, engaging police in pursuit, and failure to maintain lane.

Sears was held on a $130,000 cash-surety bond and arraigned in Superior Court in Norwich Thursday.
