Gnot Too Far for a Gnome Trail
Another in our series of fun stuff to do this summer
One of the most interesting places I have taken my grandchildren to is the Gnome Trail. This is the Baker Woods Farm in Ashford. Yes, this may seem far from everywhere, but it is worth the drive.
There are all kinds of animals to visit and sometimes the owner will open a cage and let you pet a rabbit. There are cows, goats, horses and the like also. Read their web page - it's an exciting place!
My grandkids especially love the “I Spy Gnome Trail.” It is short but loaded with fun.

The first stop is a box with a laminated sheet of paper and a box of crayons. You begin down the trail looking for the clues listed on the paper and you mark them off as you see them on the trail.
There is a weather rock, vegetables in the gnome garden, a gnome hidden here, a gnome hidden there. Can you find the watering pail? Remember everything is gnome-size (or at least kid-sized). When you return, there is a chest to grab a prize from. It is a great place to spend the day and almost free.

There are 150 acres of peace and quiet, too. Bring a picnic lunch or purchase lunch from the “Duck Stop Food Wagon.”
You can bring your fishing pole or hiking shoes both. Right now they are logging the Ancient Path Trail so it is closed but when it's open, it's full of trees with faces on them, In addition, there is a store that sells books, trinkets, and toys.
The cost to get in is free but in order to keep it open they rely on donations so please leave one!
