Inmate Dies At Montville Prison; Investigation Underway
The state announced that an inmate at Corrigan Correctional Center died Thursday.
UNCASVILLE, CT — The death of an inmate at Corrigan Correctional Center is under investigation.
The inmate was identified as Thomas Harrison, 60, of no known address. Harrison entered the prison system June 1, according to a statement from the state Department of Correction.
Staff discovered that Harrison was unresponsive in his cell Thursday at about 1 p.m. He was the only one in the cell.

Correctional and medical staff began using life-saving measures, according to the statement.
Staff continued to perform CPR until a local ambulance arrived and took Harrison to the hospital.

Harrison was declared dead at the hospital at 1:48 p.m.
State police and the Office of the Inspector General are investigating the death.
The state Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death.
Harrison was being held on $25,000 bond after he was charged with violation of probation. The charge was related to a 2023 conviction for assaulting a public safety employee and intimidation based on bias in Groton, according to The Day of New London.
