Longtime Montville Officer Expected to Receive One Year Employment Extension

He's been with the department for years, but due to his age must have his contract extended annually.

MONTVILLE, CT – Longtime police Lieutenant Leonard Bunnell, 65, is expected to hold his position for another year, The Day reported.

Bunnell is a 40 year veteran of the department and the highest ranking Montville officer, according to The Day. State law, however, requires police employee’s employment to get annual approval after age 65.

A one-year extension on his contract was approved last year by Town Council after his birthday in September, The Day reported. The upcoming vote for another extension looks promising on both ends, and Council can extend his contract by one year a total of three times.
