Man Busted In Montville School Parking Lot With Stash Of Heroin

The suspect had nearly 200 bags of the drug.

MONTVILLE, CT — A 40-year-old Jewett City Man was arrested by Montville police over the weekend in the parking lot of Mohegan Elementary School with 199 bags of heroin in his possession, according to authorities.

Edward Makara was arrested at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday after officers saw him drive into the school parking lot on Golden Road.

Officers, including police dog "Molly," had approached Makara, who authorities said was acting suspiciously, when Molly detected drugs in the vehicle.

Makara was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

He was held in lieu of a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on April 18.
