Man Charged In Infant Abuse Case: Montville Police
A man is facing charges in a case of abuse and neglect involving a 5-week-old infant, according to police.

MONTVILLE, CT — A man is facing several charges in an infant abuse case. Shane Siegrist, 34, was charged with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, risk of injury, and cruelty to persons.
The arrest follows a several months-long investigation into allegations of abuse and neglect of a 5-week-old infant reported to police in December, according to a Montville police statement.
The infant was initially examined at Backus Hospital, then transported to Connecticut Children's Medical Center for emergency head surgery after a severe brain bleed was discovered that was the result of head trauma.

Siegrist was arrested on a warrant Monday with the assistance of Norwich police and is being detained at Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Facility in Montville.
He was held on $150,000 cash/surety bond and was scheduled for arraignment in Norwich Superior Court on Tuesday.
