UPDATE: Man Shot Outside Montville Motel Beat Officer in the Head with Taser: Police

A man was shot dead and an officer was injured during a disturbance outside a Montville motel.

MONTVILLE, CT - Police said a man was shot dead and an officer was wounded during a disturbance at a Montville hotel, according to media reports.

The man was shot at about 2:30 p.m. at the Chesterfield Lodge motel, according to The Day. The Montville officer who was injured in the incident is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Further investigation revealed that officers had responded to the motel after an unwanted person was reported on the property, according to Fox 61. A brief violent struggle allegedly occurred after officers asked the suspect to leave.

During the struggle, police said the man grabbed an officer's taser and beat them in the head with it, Fox 61 reported. The officer subsequently shot the suspect.

State police said there was no threat to the public at any time following the incident, and the owners of the motel said no guests were staying there Sunday, according to The Day. As of Monday afternoon, police have not identified the victim or the person who shot him.
