Man Pleads Guilty to Distributing Heroin to Overdose Victim in Montville
Court officials said a Montville man pleaded guilty to distributing heroin to an overdose victim.

MONTVILLE, CT - A Montville man waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty Tuesday in New Haven federal court to distribution of heroin. He is charged with distributing the drug to an overdose victim, according to a release.
Court officials said Montville police responded to a Route 32 apartment on May 31, 2016, and found a deceased woman, 34, lying face down on the bathroom floor. (To sign up for Montville breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
The Connecticutβs Office of the Chief Medical Examiner subsequently determined the cause of the womanβs death to be βacute ethanol and fentanyl intoxication.β

The investigation revealed that the victim was supplied with heroin/fentanyl by James Butler, 24, of Montville. He faces up to 20 years in prison, and is scheduled to be sentenced in court on July 12.
The suspect has been detained since his arrest on January 31, court officials said.
