Man Pleads Guilty To Drug-Dealing Charges After Mohegan Sun Overdose

A man pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges after a person overdosed on the casino floor in 2021, according to prosecutors.

MONTVILLE, CT — A man pleaded guilty to charges following an investigation of a person who had bought drugs at a Mohegan Sun restroom, then overdosed on the casino floor, according to U.S. Attorney for Connecticut Vanessa Roberts Avery.

According to prosecutors, the person overdosed May 18, 2021 and died about 11 days later. In February of 2023, investigators say they made controlled purchases of fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine from Jerrard Santiago, 43, of New Haven, on two occasions.

Santiago pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to distribute and distribution of a controlled substance and faces up to 20 years in federal prison on each count. Sentencing has been scheduled for April 22.

Santiago has been detained since his arrest March 30, 2023.
