McCarty Sworn in; Prepares for First Term as State Rep.
State Rep. Kathleen McCarty was sworn in today as representative for the 38th General Assembly District covering Waterford and Montville.

HARTFORD – State Representative Kathleen McCarty (R-38) was sworn in today as state representative for the 38th General Assembly District covering Montville and her hometown of Waterford.
McCarty was among 19 other Republican freshmen who vowed to serve their districts over a two-year term. McCarty states she is committed to working with the Southeastern delegation from both parties to protect and enhance the interests and needs of the region in a thoughtful and bipartisan manner.
“I am particularly interested in working on solutions to provide quality education for all of Connecticut’s students. Another focus of mine will be on working collaboratively with other legislators and all stakeholders to improve the delivery of mental health services to those in need in the state.” Rep. McCarty said.

For the 2015-2016 legislative term, House Republican Leader Themis Klarides appointed McCarty to serve on the Appropriations, Education and Public Health Committee.
Rep. McCarty took the oath of office and was sworn in by Secretary of State Denise Merrill on Wednesday afternoon in the State House Chamber. She then participated in a Joint Convention of both the House of Representatives and Senate as Gov. Dannel Malloy addressed lawmakers about the 2015 Session.
