Montville Bookkeeper Enters Court Plea In Embezzlement Case

The defendant is accused of stealing money from a Norwich real estate firm.

NORWICH, CT — Montville resident Marianne Boyd, 60, pleaded guilty in court Tuesday to second-degree larceny in connection with the theft of about $70,000 from Norwich-based The Partner Network, LLC, a real estate firm where she formerly worked as a bookkeeper, writes the Norwich Bulletin.

The plea deal reportedly will spare Boyd jail time when she is sentenced in November. She is expected to receive a suspended sentence and five years probation.

Boyd told authorities that she has a gambling addiction and suffers from substance abuse issues. Whether she will be required to make restitution to the firm has not been decided. She is free on $50,000 bond while she awaits sentencing.
