Montville Man Indicted On Federal Gun Charges

Authorities seized 50 guns from a man last year who is now facing charges that he manufactured weapons without a license.

MONTVILLE, CT — A Montville man was indicted on gun charges Wednesday, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. Nicholas DeFelice, 31, was charged with engaging in the business of dealing in and manufacturing firearms and possession of unregistered National Firearms Act firearms.

DeFelice manufactured and sold guns without a license from January 2020 to February 2022, prosecutors said. On February 17, 2022, he was found in possession of two rifles with barrels less than 16 inches and a silencer, which were unregistered.

The charges carry a combined maximum prison term of up to 15 years.

DeFelice would have to forfeit an additional 50 firearms that authorities seized from him last year.

DeFelice pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was released on $100,000 bond.
