Montville Police Lose Bid for New Vehicle Amid Aging Cruiser Fleet
A proposal to donate a town all-purpose car to the police department was recently shot down.

MONTVILLE, CT – A proposal to donate a town all-purpose car to the police department was recently shot down by town council, the Norwich Bulletin reported.
Councilors voted against the proposal during their Sept. 12 meeting, according to the Norwich Bulletin. The decision forced police to shuffle around their existing fleet to meet readiness needs.
The department has been hoping for a new cruiser for a number of months, due to the needs rising from its aging fleet, the Norwich Bulletin reported. Police currently have 20 cruisers at their disposal, eight of which are above 75,000 miles.
