Montville School Officials to Discuss Declining Enrollment, Possible School Closing this Year

MONTVILLE, CT – School officials will begin talking this year about possibly closing one of the three elementary schools due to declining enrollment, The Day reported.
Both the town and school board have avoided talking about the specifics of dealing with declining school populations, according to The Day. Only 956 elementary school students started school, compared to 1,480 in 1983.
Superintendent Brian Levesque predicts only slightly more than 2,000 total students will be enrolled in Montville public schools, The Day reported. The board is currently planning to approach the situation cautiously.
