New Policies In Place After Montville HS 'Fight Club' Case

Laurie Pallin, acting Schools Superintendent, announced the changes Tuesday night.

MONTVILLE, CT — The entire staff of the Montville School District will undergo mandated reporter training to learn about spotting abusive situations and how and where to report them following the high school's fight club scandal that has rocked the community, writes The Day. The mandated reporter training will be conducted by the district's legal counsel.

Acting Schools Superintendent Laurie Pallin announced the new policy during a Board of Education meeting Tuesday night. Additionally, the entire staff must also take a similar electronic training program provided by the state by the end of the week.

Three district administrators, including Superintendent Brian C. Levesque, were arrested by state police last week, and placed on administrative leave by the district, for allegedly failing to report the fight club situation last fall. The case involved a now-fired substitute teacher who supervised fights between students in a closed classroom.
